Senior Designer

The BOSS Group is excited to support an incredible best in class, Creative In-House in Rockville, MD, in their search of a Senior Designer. This full-time, hourly position is an opportunity for a conceptual creative professional to build and lead an in house creative team. The ideal candidate will be well versed in the agency world and be deeply rooted in both print and digital solutions.

Senior Designer Responsibilities
  • Provide design support for assigned client group(s), as well as projects from other clients as demand and scheduling requires
  • Work directly with account lead/team as dictated by the scope of the project
  • Collaborate with creative director/art director and copywriters to ensure a cohesive relationship between copy and design
  • Conceptualize, plan and design solutions per creative brief and/or project specifications on Tier 1 (conceptual development) and Tier 2 (design adaptation) projects
  • Produce original designs based on limited direction
  • Provide design direction to designers on Tier 2 and Tier 3 projects, as needed
  • Work with the production artists to produce the final creative assets ensuring accuracy, attention to detail, and that the project meets or exceeds the design objectives
  • Ensure brand guidelines and directives are embraced and adhered to in all executions
  • Partner with the art director and account lead/team to achieve effective and efficient outcomes
  • Respectfully questions direction from the AD to help clarify strategies or fill information gaps
  • Respond to requests and communications in a timely and thorough manner
  • Work to improve the team’s overall performance and embrace a collaborative approach
  • Mentor designers and production artists by offering support and counsel on various aspects of their role and support onboarding of new team members
  • Support leadership in building a unified team mindset, creative culture while being customer service oriented
  • Maintain awareness of new technology and trends in printing and digital techniques to ensure the best possible solution for our clients
  • Engage in professional development to continuously grow in your profession and remain competitive with outside services 
Senior Designer Requirements
  • Expertise of design techniques, skills, tools and procedures for the applicable media
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software: Illustrator, Photoshop and quality control practices
  • Experience designing outstanding digital products for B2B and B2C environments
  • Excellent CSS and HTML skills; understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS; working knowledge of ActionScript
  • Strong typographic skills in print and digital channels
  • Sound understanding of MS Office
  • Ability to project manage/traffic personal own workload
  • Ability to write and speak effectively and clearly communicate with peers, leadership team and clients
  • Does not create an adverse (us vs. them) mentality regarding client/creative points of view
  • Eager to share designs with team early in the process to gain alignment on execution strategy
  • Listens well and incorporates others’ viewpoints into the design process
  • Supports and demonstrates corporate brand knowledge
  • Is an ambassador for the marketing department objectives and point of view on corporate brand and its visual identity
  • Maintains high quality standards despite pressing deadlines and always strives to do work right the first time
  • Always meets deadlines under normal circumstances
  • Willing to “roll up sleeves” and work after hours as needed
  • Helps solve problems before they negatively impact the project, team or processes
  • Adapts well to changing priorities, deadlines and directions
  • Prideful and diligent in the final preparation of work including production and presentation details
  • Works with minimal direction and can be counted on for accuracy
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in graphic design or related field
  • Minimum of five years of professional-level experience required in creative/graphic design within an external or in-house agency
  • Portfolio required
  • Adobe InDesign Certification a plus
